What Does the following chest X-ray Indicate?

I had a chest X-ray today to check for pneumonia as I ve had bronchitis & began having pain in the right side of my chest. The X-ray shows no evidence of pneumonia, but stated left hilar prominence. The nurse didn t know what that meant and has scheduled me for follow up in the morning. What does left hilar prominence mean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The hilum refers to an area at the center of the chest where the blood vessels, lymph nodes (part of the immune system) and bronchi (air passages) enter the lungs.
It is in the center.

Hilar prominence indicates that this area may be slightly or moderately enlarged.
This enlargement may not be significant , it may only be a variation of the norm or it may indicate previous infection or other disease

It is not interpreted on its own but along with any symptoms and signs that you may be having

I hope this helps
